Saturday night Ryan and I went out to dinner with a bunch of his family.
I noticed that they were acting a bit odd and overly giddy over our vacation to Palm Springs (we were leaving the next morning) so on the way home I jokingly said, "If I didn't know any better I'd think you were gonna propose in Palm Springs." Whoops - apparently I was right, but he didn't want me to know that. So he went on a long speel about waiting to get married, it would be a year at least, tears flew and the pouting began and went something like, "Buuuut, it's been 8 years! Seriously!". We fought, I slept on the couch = not a good night.
The next morning we packed up Oliver and headed out. I apologized for acting crazy, and promised to not get mad about not getting engaged until the 10 year of dating mark! (Thinking the whole time, theres no way I'll make it that long).
We got to Palm Springs, checked in to the Ace and headed straight to the pool.
Lunch at the pool, 4 mojitos and vodka icecream cones later we went back to the room and took a nap.
By this point we were pretty wiped - 110 degree heat tends to do that to you. We decided to order room service and then walk around the hotel.
Before our walk, Ryan started to style his hair, which made NO sense to me considering it was dark outside and we were just going for a walk. He even suggested I do my hair aswell. = absurd, I refused! After a few hours of walking, playing ping pong and swinging in the hammocks we headed over to the photobooth in the lobby. The flashes began and he stood up to pull something out of his pocket. Normally one would pick up on what was going on, but not me. Being the ham that I am I just kept on posing for the photos. It wasn't until the final flash that I noticed what he was holding in his hand! I kept saying, "are you kidding, is this for real? no way". I was speechless to say the least. It was maybe 5 minutes of repeating those words until he finally asked, "so are you going to say yes?".
I wasn't quite ready to face reality at that point and just wanted to bask in the giddy feeling so we headed over to the hammocks and laid on them dreaming about our future together for a few hours! The rest of our trip was filled with room service, couples massages, lounging by the pool, roasting smores on our patio, nighttime walks, winning at BINGO and hiking! I didn't want it to end, but at least I came home with an amazing souvenir!!
